METHANE under high pressure becomes a liquid or solid at much higher temperature than a 1 ATMOSPHERE tank of material.

Also it may come as a shock to the individual who is said that the report was stupid does not realize that there are indeed places on the Earth underground which are much colder than the nominal average surface temperature at any given place on the planet.
Just because you have a magma pool 50 to 150 km . below you. You will only get the full brunt of the heat when the MAGAMA breaks through.

Otherwise the whole surface of the planet would not be able to sustain life.
