Poem: Warning From The Lord-Into Oblivion You Run, O Virgin Daughter Of Babylon! (Sujit Thomas)

O virgin daughter of Babylon, who sits upon many waters,

Come and see; look closely—your land is in tatters.

Huge craters obscure your former glory;

You are now an international mockery!

Weep, wail, and howl, O virgin daughter of Babylon,

For you are running into oblivion.

How can you not discern the season that is upon you?

Your greatness is now behind you.

O virgin daughter of Babylon, look behind you!

What are you running to?

I am the life you seek, the prosperity you crave, the joy you desire!

O you foolish one who runs from me, hear, hear, hear!

Have you eyes, O virgin daughter of Babylon, and not yet see?

How blinded can you be?

Deep darkness has descended upon you,

And it seeks to devour you.

Stop, O virgin daughter of Babylon!

Turn back, O foolish one!

Look! I am still here with arms wide open.

Why must you perish, O virgin daughter of Babylon?

I was angry with you; I am angry with you.

Your sins have separated me from you.

But turn back now, O rebellious one!

And I will restore you to the heights from where you’ve fallen.

Why must you perish, O daughter?

Why rebel any longer?

Can you not hear?

Why? Where is your ear?

Oh, of what profit are your ears?

They are tuned only to the words of liars.

Woe to you, O virgin daughter of Babylon!

Where has your wisdom gone?

You’ve forsaken your youthful understanding

So you are seeing but not perceiving;

You are hearing but not discerning

The truth—that you are dying.

You traded with the betrayer.

You heeded the voice of the liar.

You partnered with the deceiver.

Why have you forsaken me, your life-giver?

You venture into dangerous days;

Your counselors are uncertain in their ways.

Your strength is now made only miry clay;

You will learn what it is to abandon my way.

Turn back even now, O you with a calloused heart!

And I will give you a fresh start.

Why kindle my anger any longer?

Why fall into my destroying fire?

I am God, and there is no other.

Hold my hand, my daughter,

And I will guide you to springs of living water.

Do not run, my daughter.

I am meek and of a humble heart.

Even today, I knock upon the door of your heart.

But, if you will not listen to me, O daughter,

Then I will hand you over to those whom you fear.

You will then see with your own eyes what you fear.

You will then hear with your own ears what you hoped not to hear.

I will let the devourer overcome you.

I will let him have his way with you.

Why tempt me any longer, O daughter?

Why persist in your unbelief and sin any longer?

Run now into the waiting arms of your Heavenly Father,

And I will make you prettier than a rose flower.

If you do not believe me and continue to rebel, O daughter,

Then…Oh horror! Oh what terror!

Oh how fearsome your destroyer!

Turn back to your Heavenly Father now, my daughter.

Behold! Your destruction is nearer now than you know it!

And you are running eagerly to embrace it!

I grieve, I grieve over you, O virgin daughter of Babylon!

Why must you go into oblivion, O virgin daughter of Babylon?

O you whom I’ve called to be houses of prayer,

Send up prayers in the Spirit for those in her;

Intercede for this wayward and rebellious daughter,

For her people are being set up for slaughter.

Intercede day and night for this rebellious one.

She hastens to her fall like a drunken one.

Intercede day and night in the Spirit, my houses of prayer,

For she is dragging many along to their doom in drunken stupor.

O my houses of prayer, intercede, intercede, intercede for this nation;

Let your prayers rise up in never-ending intercession,

For this virgin daughter of Babylon refuses my Holy Spirit’s correction,

And so she is going into oblivion.

  1. That was a tremendous word/poem. I know from Z3 News that “Sujit,” the “scribe” of this is from India. He has posted many thoughtful comments, full of insight on the various articles of Z3 News. I found this poem to give a unique perspective on America’s state.
