Scripture & Prayer: People Wrongly Assume Becoming A Christian Means Everything Will Be Peaches & Cream From Then On (Jolie)

“They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned… strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. ‘We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,’ they said” (Acts 14:21-22).

Heavenly Father, You never said that following You would be easy. Some people wrongly assume that becoming a Christian means everything will be peaches and cream from then on. Not so! In fact, the nearer we draw to You, the more attacks the devil will wage against us. As the saying goes, “Every level is a new devil.” The more in love we fall with You, the more obedient we become, the more of Your word we read, the more we pray, the more we serve and minister to others… the more we draw the devil’s attention. He will do all he can to stop us! The attacks alone make walking with You difficult, Lord But also, the closer we draw to You, the more You expect from us; the more You want to change, purify and transform us – all of which doesn’t happen easily. You sovereignly allow the devil to attack – to help cleanse us, to teach us to die to ourselves. It’s not a negative confession – it’s Scriptural to state that we will indeed endure many trials. Before we are finally called Home, life will throw many crises, heartbreaks and obstacles across our path. So we must determine to stay the course, Lord, and remain faithful to You and our calling – no matter what! By the grace of God, we will stay strong, resolute, and have single-minded focus on our Savior, our Lord, our King – YOU! We declare that we will endure each hardship with ever-increasing levels of wisdom, honor, stamina, and a spirit of submission to the will of God for our lives. We will be warriors and will fight the good fight of faith until it’s finally time to go Home! We will daily pick up our crosses and move forward and upward! In Jesus’s mighty name, amen.
