Heavenly Father, please help us to truly abide in You! According to Google online, when we abide in You, we: comply with, obey, observe, follow, keep to, hold to, confirm to, adhere to, stick to, stand by, act in accordance with, uphold, heed, accept, acknowledge, respect, and defer to – You! Most people know John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” But many don’t know that the word “believe” in this verse is not just a mental acceptance of truth. Believing in You, and abiding in You means that we are in full submission to You with our lives! It’s only when we are obeying, heeding, respecting and deferring to You that we are showing a heart of truly believing in You! When we abide in You we lay down our lives, and our wills, and desire to do what YOU want us to do. When we abide in You we seek to only speak things that are kind, encouraging and productive. When we abide in You, we only what to go where YOU want us to go. When we abide in You we are seeking to walk in purity, daily. Abiding in You means that we avoid situations that will cause us to stumble. Abiding in You means that we say Yes to the things of God, and No to sin and the ways of this world. Abiding in You means that we are living in surrender to You. And by doing all these things – THAT is how we prove that we are Your disciples (followers). We will abide in You, Lord God, always and forever! In Jesus’s mighty name, amen.
