Prophetic Warnings: Are You Prepared With Supplies & Spiritually? (J. Bailey)

“It’s started! It happened! It has begun!”

While I was sleeping earlier today, suddenly the bedroom door burst open and my wife ran into the room in a total panic yelling, “It’s started! It happened! It has begun!”

I jumped up, adrenaline pumping, with thoughts of war, chaos, and confusion, only to find the door was closed. My wife was nowhere to be found. It was just a dream.

It took me a while to calm down and get back to sleep, so I had some time to think about it. I realized how unprepared I am for something like that, which is amazing because over the past several years I have shared many warnings of exactly that kind of thing. Here are some examples:

So I believe the dream was a reminder and a call to action. For example, I have a couple of backpacks, but they’re empty. I have some great survival items, but they’re scattered around the house. Duh! Here’s a brilliant idea, why not pack a few of those things in the backpacks? Pure genius!

Imagine trying to think clearly and pack in an emergency. So I decided to pack the following items:

  • LED lantern
  • flashlight
  • portable AM/FM/short wave radio
  • blanket
  • handgun with ammo
  • pocket knife
  • hunting knife
  • working gloves
  • manual can opener
  • bungee cords
  • other cord or strong string
  • small tools
  • Bible
  • batteries
  • thumb drive
  • nail clippers
  • solar powered portable phone charger

Well, that’s at least a start, enough to fill one of one of my backpacks and part of the other. At least now I have a little bit of a plan and a place to add more items later.

Perhaps the kind of trouble coming doesn’t even require an emergency evacuation. It seems unlikely, but it only took me a few minutes to pack those items, so why not? Another possibility is the warning I received was not even for me personally, but for someone else reading this in another place.

Our best preparation for any kind of trouble is righteousness, right standing with God, because He has promised to protect and lead the righteous as shown below, but I believe He also wants us to prepare in practical ways, especially when He has sent us multiple warnings of sudden calamity. Being as prepared as we can be might also help us sleep better.

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!”
3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.
5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day;
6 Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.
7 A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand,
But it shall not approach you.
8 You will only look on with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.
9 For you have made the Lord, my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place.
10 No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent.
11 For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. (Psalm 91:1-11)
